Rovers Under-23s have their final pre-season friendly of the summer this evening with a short trip to take on Lancaster City at Giant Axe.

With the opening game of the season against Charlton Athletic on the horizon, it's expected that there will be no first team players involved for tonight's game.

After making his comeback against Southport at the weekend, there's no need to rush Dominic Samuel back, with the frontman left at home for the clash against The Blues.

Also not in the squad are Joe Nuttall and Harry Chapman, who are both in contention to be in the squad against The Addicks on Saturday afternoon.

Sam Hart and Jacob Davenport miss out through injury, but Brad Lyons has travelled north for tonight's game.

Summer arrival Tom White is likely to be named in the squad, whilst Charley Doyle is set for a return after missing the encounter against Souhport.

Tony Carss will be taking the side tonight as Rovers look to conclude a 100% winning pre-season, having already beaten Clitheroe, Kendal Town and Southport, without conceding a goal.

Jordan Eastham and Joe Hilton will be battling it out for a starting berth this evening, with kick-off scheduled in for 7pm.

Tonight's hosts finished mid-table in the Northern Premier League Premier Division last term.

We'll have a full report of the game online tomorrow afternoon.
