Rovers make the short trip to Gigg Lane this evening to tackle near neighbours Bury in the penultimate pre-season fixture of the summer.
Rovers, following victories at Barrow and Mansfield as well as a draw at Rangers, are unbeaten in pre-season so far ahead of tonight's test against The Shakers.
Tony Mowbray is expected to take a strong team to Greater Manchester as he bids to step up squad fitness with less than two weeks to go until the big Championship kick-off against Charlton Athletic at Ewood Park.
New signing Christian Walton may well start between the sticks against one of his former clubs, whilst there could be a first appearance since return to Rovers for Sam Gallagher, who missed the last two games at Mansfield and Rangers.
Scott Wharton was left out of last night's Under-23s clash against Kendal Town through illness and therefore won't be risked for the game against the club where he enjoyed a successful second half of last season.
And having represented the Development Squad in the 4-0 win last night, Bury-born Joe Nuttall and Harry Chapman also won't be travelling south for the encounter against Paul Wilkinson's side.
The Bury boss was recently appointed following Ryan Lowe's departure to take over the reigns at Plymouth Argyle, and has seen his squad decimated due to financial troubles.
Five players, including Leyland-born star man Danny Mayor all switched to Argyle after helping Bury to promotion to League One last season, with Dom Telford, who grew up in Clitheroe, also departing The Shakers for the south-west.
Former Rover Neil Danns remains with Wilkinson's charges and is expected to captain the hosts this evening.
Kick-off tonight is 7.45pm, with tickets available on the gate at Bury. For full ticket information, please click here.
