There's a sense of anticipation for the Championship campaign to kick-off, according to Rovers frontman Adam Armstrong.
Less than two weeks remain until the season gets underway against The Addicks at Ewood Park, with Rovers preparing ahead of the clash with two final friendlies against League One pair Bury and Blackpool.
Armstrong, who appeared in the weekend draw against Rangers yesterday, has featured in every game of pre-season so far, and is itching to scure a starting berth for the first game of 2019-20 against Lee Bowyer's Londoners.
“There’s a lot of excitement for the season to start," the striker eagerly told iFollow Rovers.
"We have a lot to build on from last season, the boys have been working really hard and we can’t wait to get started.
“We’re working hard on the pitch on what we want to do. All the lads know what they want from one another and we can’t wait for the Charlton game now.
“There’s been a lot of balance this pre-season. There’s been football and running, and the lads have taken to it brilliantly.
“There’s a nice vibe, a good energy and everyone’s getting along really well."
Having finished in 15th place in the table last term, Armstrong is backing the young Rovers squad to produce better this time.
Mowbray has added more Championship experience to the ranks in the form of new signings Stewart Downing and Bradley Johnson, and is hopeful that those additions can assist the team.
“It was a decent season for us last year, but we want to top that and do better this time around," the diminutive Geordie added.
"Let’s hope I can get a few more goals and assists this season.
“For the whole team, we’re all aiming to kick on. We’ll take every game as it comes, but we need to be on it every match
