No easy games in the Championship

"We want to put a run together, not just to go unbeaten with draws thrown in there, we want consecutive wins"

18 January 2019

Richie Smallwood says Rovers shouldn't look at the league table prior to Ipswich Town visit Ewood Park on Saturday afternoon.

Rovers have won both of their Championship clashes in 2019, following victories at home to West Bromwich Albion and away to Millwall.

Whilst Ipswich are bottom of the league, they earned a crucial three points at home to Rotherham United last weekend, and Smallwood believes the Tractor Boys will be fired up ahead of their search for back-to-back wins.

“We’re concentrating on the next game, a massive game, against what will be a fired up Ipswich team following their win last weekend," Richie admitted to iFollow Rovers.

“We know how big the game is for both teams. We want to put a run together, not just to go unbeaten with draws thrown in there, we want consecutive wins.

“A good run pushes you right up towards the top of the table and that’s what we’re looking to do.

“We have started 2019 well with two wins and we want three in a row now. But anyone can beat anyone on the day, we know teams down the bottom can surprise teams above them. There are no easy games.

“We need to bring our A-game to the table, not just for Saturday, but for all the games we have left this season.

“The form at home is good. We have two home games coming against sides that have previously struggled, but Ipswich won last time out and Hull are on an unbelievable run. Both games won’t be easy, that is for certain," he added.

“Ipswich come with a former Rovers manager and they will be fired up. They have new faces in and a relatively new manager, but we’ve done our homework and will take things from there."
