Are you a Rovers fan that live in either Rotherham or Middlesbrough and enjoy a parkrun? If so, there's a chance you'd have bumped into Richie Smallwood running beside you.
It's been a difficult couple of weeks for Richie, who's had to watch games from afar following his sending off at Sheffield United in the final game of 2018.
But in typical Smallwood fashion, the 28-year-old hasn't let up, and has kept his fitness up by joining in with local running groups, as the midfielder explains.
“It’s been tough watching on and being suspended. I’ve tried to take it on the chin and to keep fit over the last few weeks with our Fitness Coach Rushy [Chris Rush]," the number 6 revealed to iFollow Rovers.
“The game came around at the right time for me on Tuesday and allowed me to get some minutes under my belt.
“I had a little bit of a rest because there is nothing like game time. But in those weekends off I was running at home, joining in in 5k parkruns, just to keep myself in shape.
“I did a park run in Middlesbrough, another one back in Rotherham and one with the missus on a Sunday, just to keep myself ticking over.
“I turned up in my Blackburn gear and got a few odd looks coming my way, I must admit!
“I didn’t want to sit around. I wanted to keep myself in good fettle, ready for when I'm called upon.”
