A number of Junior Rovers braved the cold as they were given a unique opportunity to watch their heroes at close quarters.
The young fans, who are part of the club’s official junior membership scheme, were invited to spend the day at Rovers’ Senior Training Centre to reward their loyal support.
The group were given a behind-the-scenes tour of the fantastic facilities at Brockhall, before going out onto the training pitches to watch manager Tony Mowbray put the players through their paces ahead of tomorrow’s FA Cup third round tie with Newcastle.
The youngsters then had the chance to have their photos taken with their favourite members of the first team squad, before being treated to lunch in the players’ canteen.
Paul Curran, whose son Adam enjoyed the special school holiday visit, was full of praise for the club, after being made to feel so welcome by all the players and staff at the STC.
“A big thank you from the both of us for such a wonderful day at Rovers training yesterday,” he said.
“It is a real eye-opener to see the top class facilities at Rovers and we both loved learning about the everyday life of a professional footballer.
“Adam has not stopped talking about his experience since he arrived home and is absolutely buzzing about the Newcastle game tomorrow.
“From the first moment we stepped into the training centre until we left, everyone was really kind to us and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Thanks for letting us take lots of pictures to remember the day and the autographed picture frame will take pride of place once we decide which picture to use!
“What a way to give children their own link to the club!”
