This season, we're introducing a new feature, bringing Rovers fans that bit closer to members of the current first-team squad.
The idea is simple: 26 questions, one for each letter of the alphabet, with subjects ranging from the players' favourite holiday destinations to the strangest things they've ever seen.
Next up in A-Z is Joe Rothwell, who discusses moving away from home, why the PFA Awards should be held abroad and much more!
A – AWAY -What is your favourite away ground that you've played at?
It would probably have to be Wembley. Although we lost the game, it was a great experience to play at the national stadium. That was with Oxford in the Checkatrade Trophy Final a couple of years ago.
B – BANTER – Who's got the best banter in the squad?
The obvious ones are Dacky and the skipper, but the one who always tickles me is Richie. He has dry banter and always drops one liners in. I’d say Ben Brereton has the worst banter, I’d put myself somewhere in the middle, to be honest.
C – CLUB – What football team do you support?
I was a Manchester United supporter growing up. Coming through the ranks there, it was installed into me from a young age.
D – DINING – What would be your last three-course meal?
I’d go for calamari to start, a medium fillet steak with chips and peppercorn sauce for the main, followed by warm chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream.
E – EVENINGS – A quiet night in or a night out with the lads? Why?
I like a bit of both. I enjoy a night out, but with a little one on the way I expect there will be more nights in than nights out!
F – FOREIGN – What's your favourite holiday destination and why?
I really enjoyed Barbados, but I go to Dubai every year with my missus, which is always very good. All the footballers go there, it’s like the PFA Awards!
G – GAME – What's been your favourite football game you've ever played in?
I’ll go with that Wembley game again. We should have won, but playing at that stadium was fantastic.
H – HOBBIES – What do you like to get up to away from football?
I’m a keen golfer, as I’m sure everyone knows from a lot of the lads’ A-Z answers. They all say I’m a bit of a bandit, but it’s not my fault I beat them every week! Aside from that, I enjoy relaxing at home with the missus.
I – IDOL – Who was your favourite footballer as a youngster and why?
Paul Scholes. Being at United all that time I managed to see him up close, which was superb. He was an amazing player.
J – JOBS – Have you had any other jobs aside from playing football?
I haven’t, no. I went into football from the age of 5 so I’ve never had to think about anything else. If I wasn’t a footballer then there’s no doubt I’d be working in sport somewhere. I didn’t really enjoy school too much.
K – KID – What were you like as a young boy?
I was smart. I went to a grammar school. Football soon took over and things took a back seat, but I got 16 A*-C grades at GCSE level.
L – LOATH – What annoys you the most and why?
It would have to be when drivers don’t thank you for letting them out. It annoys the life out of me. Just a wave will do for me, but if there’s no thanks then I’ll be raging for a good five minutes!
M – MUSIC – What sort of music are you into and what's your favourite ever tune?
I wouldn’t say I have a favourite tune of genre because I listen to anything. My initiation wasn’t great, I did Wonderwall by Oasis. It didn’t go down too well!
N – NICKNAME – What's the best nickname you've come across in your footballing career?
There was a lad who I played with at Oxford called Cameron Brannagan. He was very small but had massive, hairy feet. We ended up calling him Frodo!
O – OPTIMISM – What would you like to achieve in your career?
To play at the highest standard I can. Hopefully one day I can play in the Premier League.
P – PETS – Do you have any pets?
I have a French Bulldog called Potter, as everyone knows from when I first signed for Rovers! The missus treats him like a little kid and it’s a nightmare sometimes! I’ve had him for two-and-a-half years now.
Q – QUALITY – Who's the best player you've ever played with or against and why?
I’d say Michael Carrick is the best I’ve played with. He was top class. The best I have played against is Mousa Dembele. He was so strong and agile and I’m a little surprised that Tottenham are letting him go, to be honest.
R – RAPID – Who's the quickest player you've played with or against?
There was a lad at United called Saidy Janko. He’s on loan at Nottingham Forest at the moment and he was very fast. Saidy is probably the quickest I’ve played with. We have a few lads here who are quick, Arma and Belly are right up there. I’ve seen a few lads say I’m the quickest, maybe over five or 10 metres, but any longer and I’m blowing!
S – STRANGE – What's the strangest thing you've seen in your life?
I don’t want to hammer Ben Brereton, but his teeth, the famous tombstones, they are pretty strange!
T – TELEVISION – What do you like to watch on the TV and why?
I love a boxset, but the only problem with that is when I start I can’t stop. Anything goes with me. I’ve just watched Luther, which I thought was excellent. I’m into Gossip Girl at the moment.
U – UNKNOWN – Tell us something that people don't know about you.
I left home when I was 12 and moved into digs at United. United pulled me out of grammar school to join up with them. When I say left home, I was only half an hour away, so I could always nip back if I needed to. It was a good experience. It was a chance to train every day and there was only a select few that were in there, so it was a bit of an honour, to be honest.
V – VIDEO GAMES – Do you own a games console and if so how often do you play it?
I have got a PS4 but I haven’t seen it in about six months because Benno has taken it off my hands! I’m waiting to get it back, but it appears to be out on loan. I’m into my racing games like Need For Speed and a bit of Fifa.
W – WORLD – Where would you most like to visit in your life?
I’d like to go to Australia. I have family over there, so it would be good to see them. My cousins are over there and they are probably my closest ones as well. The free accommodation will come in useful!
X – XYLOPHONE – Can you play any musical instruments?
I used to play the drums when I was younger. I had a set, but moving away from home meant I lost touch with it.
Y – YIKES – Do you have a fear of anything?
Spiders. It doesn’t matter what the size is, I’m terrified of them.
Z – ZODIAC – What's your star sign?
Capricorn. My birthday was last week so that’s an easy one.
