Rovers Ladies have eased their goalkeeper crisis with the loan signing of Manchester City stopper Fran Stenson.
The 17-year-old comes with an international reputation, having been capped by England at Under-15s, U16s and U17s level.
She made her Women’s Super League debut for Birmingham City aged 16, before signing for Manchester City in the summer of 2018.
The loanee made her City bow in December, away to Aston Villa in the Continental Cup and kept a clean sheet for the Citizens.
She is currently third choice behind Karen Bardsley and Ellie Roebuck.
Signing Stenson is a big boost for Gemma Donnelly’s side, after injuries to both Danielle Gibbons and Danielle Hill, and a suspension for Development keeper Amelia Size.
Donnelly said: “I’m delighted that we’re able to bring Fran on board. Many thanks to Manchester City for their willingness to help us in this unusual situation.
“We look forward to welcoming Fran into our successive team.”
Stenson goes straight into Sunday’s squad to face Huddersfield Town Ladies in the League Cup Quarter-Final.
