Rovers Under-18s suffered a comprehensive defeat at high-flying Everton, who rose to the top of the Under-18 Premier League table with the victory.
An early header from Elliot Richards got the Toffees up and running after just nine minutes of play at Finch Farm.
That was how the score remained at half time, before Korede Adedoyin’s fine solo goal saw him muscle a couple of opponents off the ball before lashing into the back of the net just before the hour.
With seven minutes remaining, Adedoyin showed his strength and power again to battle his way through, find a way past Ben Winterbottom and plant the ball into the net, to make the score safe and complete his brace.
There was still time for the hosts to bag a fourth, with substitute Lewis Dobbin scoring low from an acute angle in the final moments of the game to take the Toffees top and keep Rovers in mid-table.
Billy Barr’s youngsters are in action at home to Newcastle United in the Under-18s Premier League today, kick-off 12.30pm at the Rovers Academy.
