Development Squad chief Damien Johnson wants to see forward Dan Butterworth to show his influential side once again this evening against Leicester City.
Butterworth bagged a brace in the last outing against Sheffield United in the Premier League Cup, helping Rovers to a vital 3-0 win on home turf.
And back at Leyland tonight against Leicester, Johnson wants his frontman to show his quality again, whilst continuing to live on the edge.
“Dan’s been working hard and has been looking sharp in training," Johnson said ahead of the game.
"That was the frustration with Dan. He got sent off against Swansea and we missed him over the Christmas period.
“It was good to have him back and credit to him for working hard and keeping himself in shape to hit the ground running when he returned.
“It was great to see him score in open play against Sheffield United and also despatch the penalty well.
“We talked at half time against Sheffield United about the challenges that were going in on some of our players.
"They weren’t good tackles, but if your opponents are losing their discipline and their heads then you ultimately are winning.
“Dan’s got to recognise that. He’s fiery and is a passionate kid, but he has to control it. He’s winning and doesn’t need to react."
