Harry Chapman admits he is itching to pull on Rovers' blue-and-white halves again.

The 21-year-old, who joined the club on a permanent deal from Middlesbrough last month, is expected to start for Rovers' Under-23s against Everton on Monday night.

Since returning to Rovers, Chapman has been working hard at the club's Brockhall training base, doing double sessions, to build up his fitness levels.

And the exciting winger says he is looking forward to getting a run-out and edging one step closer to a place in the first team fold.

"I've been working hard to get back fit quickly and hopefully I'll be playing for the Under-23s on Monday and then back in the fold to be selected for the first team," Chapman told Rovers' matchday programme.

"I've been training as normal with the lads and then doing my extras in the afternoon when the lads go home - a bit of running, gym, whatever it is, anything extra that I can do to speed up the process.

"I felt myself that it was something I really needed to do, but it was mainly led by the manager and Chris Rush (Head of Athletic Performance).

"I was really unfit from lack of games and lack of training, but now I'm here, I'm working really hard and I'll be back in the fold soon.

"My sharpness is fine. I still feel the same as I always have done, it's just the base fitness. The longer endurance stuff I've been struggling with, but the last few days I've completed my tests, hit my targets and they've all been passed, so thankfully no more running!

"It's been a long time since I put the blue-and-white on, so I'm excited to get it on and excited to get my first minutes under my belt. I can't wait.

"I'd like to play 90 minutes for the Under-23s to know that I'm ready to sustain a full 90 for the first team if needed.

"I'm itching to get back out there on Ewood. It's been a long time since I've played there, so I'm really excited.

"The plan is to get back fit as soon as possible and to help the team anyway I can."

Fans can see Chapman's return to action when Rovers Under-23s travel to Southport to take on Everton Under-23s in Premier League 2, kick-off 7pm.
