Tony Mowbray says Middlesbrough may have one or two defensive problems on Sunday, but still expects his boyhood club to have capable replacements and cause his side problem.
The visitors will definitely be without Spanish centre back Daniel Ayala, who saw shown a red card in the defeat at Sheffield United earlier this week.
And there's a doubt over Ayala's giant centre half partner Aden Flint, who hobbled off in the first half at Bramall Lane.
But despite the possibility of two absentees in the backline, Mowbray believes that Boro will still be a tough nut to crack for Rovers at Sunday lunchtime.
“I think they are defensively very strong, although I think they will have a few issues at the back this weekend with Daniel Ayala’s sending off in midweek," Mowbray revealed ahead of the game.
“They aren’t sure on Aden Flint, who came off in midweek, but they still have some good players.
“Dael Fry is one of them, [Ryan] Shotton is another. George Friend is a very experienced defender and they have midfield players who can drop into the backline if needed.
“Why have they been so good away from home? Because defensively they are very strong and they have players in midfield who have quality and can pick the right pass.
“Up top they have a £15m striker who they have had on the bench for a lot of the season. They are a very experienced, physical team who know what the game is about."
