Billy Barr admits that despite getting back to winning ways at the weekend, his young side must do better in upcoming games
Rovers registered a convincing 3-0 win at Brockhall against Newcastle United on Saturday, with goals coming from Lenni Cirino, Chanka Zimba and Sam Durrant.
It was a first victory of 2019, but Barr says his team can't afford to rest on their laurels, insisting the challenge is to now go on a winning run.
“It was nice to score three goals and get the win," he reflected after the game.
"I’m never happy though, and we still need to be a lot better.
“It was a young Newcastle team and we deserved to win it, but in terms of long-term development, there’s a lot we need to do.
“But it’s nice for the lads and nice boost for the confidence. We have a friendly against Aston Villa later this week and then it’s back to the grind when Manchester United visit in a couple of weeks.
“Against the better teams we’ll see how we do. We said before the game that the lads have to do what the Under-23s have been doing.
“We asked the lads to start well and not to give away any cheap chances to them to boost their confidence.
“We can build off the confidence that the result has given us and look to see if we can string some results together."
Rovers Under-18s are next in action in the Under-18s Premier League on Saturday 23rd February when Manchester United visit Brockhall, kick-off 11am.
