It was an excellent November for the Rovers first team, but away from Ewood Park there was another member of the squad that was shining bright in League Two.
Blackburn-born defender Scott Wharton has had a month to remember out on loan at high-flying Northampton Town.
Although the 22-year-old is known more for his solid defending, he's shown his goalscoring talents as well in recent weeks.
He bagged a brace in the excellent 4-1 win over Crewe Alexandra before adding to his tally a week later in the 2-0 victory at home to Grimsby Town.
Wharton has helped Keith Curle's Cobblers to shoot up the League Two table, and also progress in the Emirates FA Cup, with Scott scoring again in the 3-1 victory over Notts County in December.
And after an unbeaten month and three goals to boot, the centre back was rewarded for the fine form by being awarded the PFA Bristol Street Motors Fans’ League Two Player of the Month.
With 24% of the vote, Wharton saw off the five other challengers to secure the gong.
The final results can be found below:
- Scott Wharton (Northampton Town) 24%
- Tom Eastman (Colchester United) – 22%
- Paul Farman (Stevenage) – 18%
- Ebou Adams (Forest Green) - 16%
- Eoin Doyle (Swindon Town) - 11%
- Lois Maynard (Salford City) - 9%
Scott will be hoping to kick-off December in the league in the same form when Northampton head to Exeter City this weekend.
