Gemma Donnelly admitted that Sunday’s fixture at London Bees is a ‘huge game’ as they look to move away from the bottom of the Championship table.
Rovers came close to taking points from their last league match at home to London City Lionesses, but performances need to be turned into points for the Blues to starting looking up rather than down.
And Donnelly is targeting a return to winning ways in North London.
“It’s a huge game,” the Rovers boss stated ahead of the fixture.
“London Bees will want to take another three points from us and move further away from the danger zone.
“And we’re desperate for some points to make amends for both the Leicester game and the game last weekend against the Lionesses.”
Having made a long midweek trip to league leaders Aston Villa with a threadbare squad, Donnelly knows the strain this can put on the players, who have full-time job commitments to contend with alongside their football.
But she has no doubts about the team’s commitment ahead of this weekend’s encounter.
“It’s a big ask for the girls. We’ve travelled this week for the Conti Cup game and the M6 was closed so we had an interesting journey home getting back at 2am in the morning on Thursday.
“And we’re going away on Saturday to play on the Sunday so it’s a huge ask for the players.
“But they know how important it is and if I know anything about this team it’s that they’re not quitters and they will give everything on Sunday.”
