Adam Armstrong says the Rovers squad are counting down the seconds for the season to begin, with just one day remaining until the big kick-off against Charlton Athletic at Ewood Park.
Nobody in last season's squad appeared more times in all competitions than Armstrong, who weighed in with five league goals from his 44 outings.
The 22-year-old has got a full pre-season under his belt and admits he feels as good as he's ever felt, as he targets an improved 2019-20 campaign for the club.
“We all can’t wait to get out there," the diminutive frontman confessed to iFollow Rovers ahead of the game against The Addicks.
"There’s nothing better than playing competitive games and we all can’t wait for the season to start.
“I’ve had a good holiday, have worked hard and came back for pre-season feeling great. It’s been the first proper pre-season that I’ve had as it was the first summer in a long while that I wasn’t away with England.
“It’s been nice to settle down and know where I’m going to be this summer. The last few summers I’ve been at Newcastle, wondering if I was going to stay or go out on loan.
“I always set targets in my own head and I want to get more goals and assists this season. I played a lot of games last term and I felt I coped with things fine.
“Our mindset is to do better than last season," he added.
"It was a solid campaign for us last season and now we all want to kick on again. New signings coming in will certainly help us.
“We’ve brought in good players and there’s added competition that can only do us good.“It’s exciting times. I’m excited for the first game and all the lads are as well."
