New Rovers Ladies signing Lauren Thomas described her move as ‘a step forward’ in her development as she looks to kick on her career.
The midfielder was delighted to sign for the club and can’t wait to get going in the Championship.
“I’m really happy. I think it will be a good challenge for me and playing with women week in week out will definitely improve me as a player.”
She had no qualms about joining from Liverpool, having followed Rovers’ progress over the last few seasons.
“They’ve done so well over the years. I’ve kept track of how well they’ve done, winning the league and doing the treble.
“It seems like a family club, they are all together, which is what I need to progress into especially at my age now.”
The right winger has plenty of attributes to get fans out of their seats.
“I’m quick, skilful, I like to drive past people. I’m good in one v one situations.
“I feel being up against women and competing against more experienced players will just improve me altogether.”
The 19-year-old featured in first-team games in the Women’s Super League and Continental Cup last season.
And she felt it was the right time to move away from the Reds, where she has been since the age of 13, in search of regular senior football.
“I’ve had experience with Liverpool first-team and playing against women is obviously a lot different to playing in the Development league.
“It’s just being patient waiting for my opportunities. I got those and I tried to take them as best as I could. Now I feel (signing for Rovers) is a step forward for me to push on now.
“I just want to improve in general, become quicker, more physical and do all the things on and off the pitch that every player would want to do.
“And do as much as I can for the club in terms of getting them as high up the table as I can. When I’m playing give everything I’ve got to the team.”
