Note Sunday 17th November in your diaries – that’s the date of the inaugural Blackburn 10K, starting and finishing at Ewood Park!
It's a day that's going to appeal to anyone with a passion for running, jogging, or even trying to up the pace of a leisurely stroll to test your capabilities, knowing that you're taking part for a good cause.
Alongside being based at our iconic stadium, the looped course also takes in most of the town centre’s major landmarks, making this a race that any keen runner with a passion for their town will be eager to undertake.
Blackburn Rovers Community Trust are acting as hosts and will take a proportion of all race entry fees to reinvest in local charitable activity, as well as benefiting from any sponsorship generated by the event.
The race organisation is being undertaken by RunThrough, who have an excellent reputation for creating quality race events, and is supported by Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council.
Jess Clegg, events coordinator at Blackburn Rovers Community Trust, explained: "We're really pleased to have the backing Matt Wood at RunThrough and the local council, who are going to help us to put on a really exciting new event for the people of Blackburn and beyond who want to test themselves on a brand new 10K route.
"It's going to be really unique to offer the niche experience of starting and finishing in an iconic football stadium that has been graced by some of the game's greatest ever players and we're sure that it will bring a wide appeal to the race.
"We are excitedly looking forward to unveiling details in the coming days to explain how runners can potentially fundraise and race as part of a Blackburn Rovers supporters group, as well as confirming all the sponsorship opportunities, so I look forward to publicising those options and hearing from people who would like to know more and get involved."
