Rovers Ladies stepped up preparation for the Championship season with a 5-3 pre-season victory over Huddersfield Town Women.
Saffron Jordan, Ellie Stewart, Natasha Flint and Natasha Fenton put the Blues ahead at half-time.
Flint added a fifth and her second late on to ensure victory in the penultimate pre-season encounter.
Gemma Donnelly’s charges kick off the season on Sunday 18th August and this game was a chance to get further minutes under their belts ahead of the trip to Lewes.
New captain Jordan led by example, opening the scoring after just nine minutes. Fenton won back possession and fed the striker, who made no mistake finishing into the bottom corner.
Stewart headed in Fenton’s free-kick to double Rovers’ lead - and Fenton’s assist tally.
Huddersfield pulled a goal back when Sowerby met Kate Mallin’s cross at the near post.
It was soon three for Rovers. Flint got in behind the Terriers defence, cut back on her left foot and chipped the keeper.
Fenton increased the advantage of the stroke of half-time, finding the far top corner when she looked to be crossing the ball.
Huddersfield struck first in the second period, netting 10 minutes into the half, and then the same combination of Mallin and Sowerby added a third for the visitors.
But it was Rovers who had the last word. Flint found the bottom corner from close range to net a brace.
Rovers travel to Manchester City next Saturday in a behind closed doors friendly against Nick Cushing’s Women’s Super League side.
