Rovers Ladies host an FA Women’s Championship game for the first time this afternoon, with London Bees the visitors to the Sir Tom Finney Stadium.
Both sides will be looking to bounce back from opening day defeats and get up and running in the new season.
Here’s our guide to the game…
It’s a 2pm kick-off on Sunday 25th August at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium, Bamber Bridge.
STATE OF PLAY
Championship newcomers Rovers were beaten 5-1 by Lewes Women last weekend.
Natasha Flint had equalised before the hosts ran away with the game in the second-half.
London Bees finished eighth in the second tier last season, with 21 points from their 20 games.
The Bees have brought in a host of new players during the summer transfer window, including former West Ham winger Rosie Kmita.
They started this campaign with a 2-0 defeat at home to London City Lionesses.
IN THE DUGOUT
Lee Burch took over as London Bees manager this summer, replacing the outgoing Rachel Yankey.
Burch coached Yeovil Town in the Super League last season and was Millwall Lionesses’ manager before that.
It is the first competitive meeting between the two sides, with Rovers playing in the Championship for the first time.
The Blues boasted a 100% home record in the National League last season, scoring 60 goals in the process and conceding just seven.
London Bees did not draw a single league game in 2018-19 – winning seven and losing 13 of their 20 games.
Tickets are available to buy on the gate. They are priced at £5 for adults, £3 for 18-25 and Over 65s and £2 for U18s.
