Rovers Ladies are looking forward to a first-ever trip to Lewes FC Women on the opening day of the FA Women’s Championship season.

Here’s our guide to the game…

It’s a 1pm kick-off on Sunday 18th August at Lewes’ Dripping Pan Stadium.

Fran Alonso’s side will be looking to improve on their ninth place finish from last season – which was their first campaign in the second tier.

The Rookettes have added a host of new names to the squad ahead of the new season, including Scotland international striker, Zoe Ness and Wales regular Rhian Cleverly.

Goalkeeper Issy Foster has joined from Southampton, while former West Ham striker Molly Peters has also joined their ranks.

1 - It is the first competitive meeting between the two sides.

2 - Gemma Donnelly’s charges lost just twice on the road last season, including a spirited 3-1 defeat to Super League side West Ham in the FA Cup.

New signing Lauren Thomas is in line to make her competitive debut for Rovers. The former Liverpool midfielder joined the club earlier this month.
