Rovers Ladies broke their attendance record at Bamber Bridge on Sunday, with 457 fans seeing the Blues’ opening home game as a Championship club.
And Gemma Donnelly is encouraging even more Rovers supporters to make the short trip down to the Sir Tom Finney Stadium this season.
“All the success we’ve been having on the pitch; we want to broadcast that more,” Donnelly explained.
“We’re a family club and if we can get more people down to the game we can start really striving and pushing for bigger and better attendances and that’s our goal achieved.
“I don’t think there’s a better way than social media and actually engaging with it and people who care about it. Who more so than Rovers fans?"
Rovers completed the ‘double treble’ in each of the last two seasons, but it’s been a tough start to life in the second tier, losing their first two games.
“I can’t suggest that we’re going to be unbelievable winners as we have been in previous seasons. This year is a season of consolidation and making small steps into a new division.
“And it’s going to be incredibly hard, however we’re building slowly so it’s sustainable and this certainly helps that in terms of the funding.
“More people coming down and seeing the girls in action, we can build from there.
“I’m just so grateful that the players are getting recognition and more people are being made aware of us, it’s fantastic.
“I think they love the fact that they’re getting more attention - the good luck messages, the support they’re receiving. It’s heightening their profile and they’re really grateful for it.
“We are One Club, we have adopted that ethos and we’re proud of it. I hope we will continue to do you proud.”
