Rovers Ladies Manager Gemma Donnelly is delighted to see so many of her existing squad sign on the dotted line for 2019-20.

The large majority of the squad that won promotion - and an unprecedented quadruple - will once again wear blue and white this season.

“I’m really pleased that the girls have opted to stay and rightly so,” Donnelly said.

“They’ve worked so incredibly hard to get us promoted and we’ve finally just pushed over the line so I’m delighted that the bulk of the squad have stayed to experience it and challenge themselves in the next league.

“It’s been hard, we’ve had a tough pre-season schedule for the girls to expose themselves to defeat and how they reacted and responded to that.

“We played games that we knew would offer us a challenge in terms of intensity.

“It’s been tough in terms of adapting to more training sessions, increasing the training time and welcoming the new players so the dynamics have changed slightly within the group.

“We’re all still finding our feet but that’s what happens when you get promoted and things have to change.

“It’s about how we adapt to that. We’re taking small steps at the minute.”
