Defensive trio in provisional Ireland squad

Darragh Lenihan, Derrick Williams and Greg Cunningham could earn more caps next month

Rovers defenders Darragh Lenihan, Derrick Williams and Greg Cunningham have been named in the provisional Republic of Ireland squad for two upcoming internationals.

The Rovers trio have been included in a 40-man squad for the EURO 2020 qualifier against Switzerland in Dublin on Thursday September 5th and the challenge match against Bulgaria in Dublin on Tuesday September 10th.

The final squad is expected to be confirmed on Sunday September 1st.

Lenihan currently has two caps for his country, having featured against the USA in June 2018 and Northern Ireland in November 2018, whilst Williams has one cap to his name, having made his international debut against France in May 2018.

Cunningham, who is on a season-long loan from Cardiff City, has appeared for his country on four occasions, having made his debut against Algeria in 2010.
