Four goals from four diff first half brace set Rovers Under-18s on the way to a comprehensive victory over Sunderland's Under-18s at the Rovers Academy.
Flavian Enzo Boyomo's early header got Rovers off the mark before Chanka Zimba doubled Rovers' tally soon after with a curling effort.
Luke Brennan and then James Connolly made the game safe after the interval, before substitute Josh Baggs pulled a goal back for the visitors in the late stages.
Following a fine start to the game, it was Boyomo who handed the hosts the lead after just 15 minutes as he latched onto a deep Brennan corner to nod across goal and into the back of the net, via a Sunderland defender.
Less than 10 minutes later and Zimba doubled the tally; curling home from the edge of the box, his strike squirming underneath Black Cats goalkeeper Adam Cameron and trickling into the back of the net.
It could have been more for Rovers, with Sam Durrant seeing his effort smothered by the goalkeeper inbetween the hosts' two goals.
At the other end, Sunderland's only first half opportunity came from Ryan Wombwell, whose header from a Tom Scothern corner drifted wide.
Rovers had two quickfire opportunities to make the game safe just a moment before half time, but both Durrant and Connolly were wasteful with their efforts from the edge of the box.
The second half continued in the same vein, and 10 minutes after the interval Brennan emphatically fired into the bottom corner from just inside the box after a neat pass from half time substitute Jake Garrett.
The same player went close to making it 4-0 just three minutes later, but his 25-yard free kick floated just past Cameron's right-hand post.
Rovers continued to probe, but it took until the 80th minute for the fourth goal of the game to arrive, with the excellent Brennan the architect.
The winger's terrific cross was perfect for Connolly, who waltzed into the box to powerfully put the result beyong doubt.
Although Sunderland did pull a goal back through Baggs' close range finish with two minutes remaining, it won't have impacted Billy Barr's thoughts too much following an excellent display from his youngsters throughout the encounter.
Rovers' final game of the season sees Barr's boys head to the north-east to take on Newcastle United's Under-18s on Saturday 27th April, kick-off 12.30pm at the Magpies' academy centre.
