Charley Doyle says confidence is high in the Rovers camp ahead of Monday night's trip to Stevenage's Lamex Stadium.

Rovers head to Hertfordshire looking to continue their fine form in Premier League 2, with a showdown against Tottenham Hotspur's Under-23s set for a 7pm kick-off.

Doyle, who signed a new contract with the club last week, has been a regular feature in Damien Johnson's side this season.

And looking back on the campaign as a whole, the defender admits Rovers have adjusted to life in a new division - following promotion last term - and are now looking upwards.

“It’s been massive for us and shows there are good lads in the group who have progressed through to the first team," he said of Rovers' recent good run to iFollow Rovers.

"We all have that winning mentality after doing so well last season.

“I’ve enjoyed this season, it's a lot harder. We started slowly but since January we’ve kicked on and are right up there in terms of the form since the start of 2019.

“Everyone’s looking forward to every game. They’re all must win, we want to stay in the league and do well in the Premier League Cup as well. We want to keep playing against the bigger and better teams.

“I’ve been happy with my form. I’ve played in a few positions, but wherever I’ve played I’ve enjoyed it. I like midfield but I’ve mainly played centre back this season. Wherever I play I’m happy."
