Rovers Ladies’ Development team have been crowned FA Women’s National League Reserve Northern Division One league champions.
The young Blues won the league for a third successive season on Sunday, to mirror the first-team’s league success.
It was a memorable occasion at Accringotn and Rossendale College, where a 2-2 draw at home to second placed Sheffield United Women secured the title with a game to spare.
Top scorer Ria Montgomery scored both the goals, to take her tally to 20 for the season, in just 19 games.
The Development team sit eight points clear at the top of the table, having lost just once all season. The team have scored 68 goals and conceded a league low of 17.
Meanwhile, outfield players Megan Dykes and Megan Hornby went in goal for Rovers, as Amelia Size was called up to the first-team.
First-team manager Gemma Donnelly was delighted with the Development side's latest success.
"It's amazing. A third season in a row that they've won the league and they're in a cup final next weekend.
"Those girls keep surpassing every target that is set for them. It bodes well for the future for us as a club that we're producing talent that can move on up into the first-team.
"Massive congratulations to Ellie Cash and her team."
Ellie Cash’s side now have the Reserve League Cup Final to contest on Sunday. They face Charlton Athletic Women at Rugby Town FC at 11am, before finishing the league season at home to Durham Women.
