Outings at Ewood Park have been few and far between for Jacob Davenport since signing from Manchester City, but the youngster is still aiming to end a "frustrating" season on a high note.
Injury has halted the talented midfielder from making his debut for the first team, but recent weeks and months have seen the 20-year-old become a firm fixture in Damien Johnson's in form Development Squad.
And after playing his part in the Under-23s' most recent victory against his former club, the youngster is now targeting an outing in the first team before the conclusion of the campaign.
“I’m itching to get out there for the first team before the end of the season," he admitted to iFollow Rovers.
“It’s been a frustrating campaign for me, but I’m looking at the final four games and hoping to get on the pitch to make my first team debut before putting all my focus on next season.
“I’m fresh and raring to go, so it’s a shame the season is ending shortly, but it’ll be a big summer for me.
“I want to be in the manager’s mind for next term so I really want to show him what I can do in the next four games.
“I’ll be putting in the work in the summer to make sure I come into pre-season ready to go. With the injuries, I’ve had quite a bit of rest this season," he added.
“There’s a lot of opportunities for young players here and the gaffer has shown he trusts them in the first team.
“The future’s bright and there’s a lot of competition in the first team. We’ll be better off next season, I’m sure.
“Hopefully next season could really be the one for us all."
