Craig Conway is offering supporters the chance to have their hair cut by the Rovers midfielder to raise money for East Lancashire Hospice.
The Scottish star, who is the Player Ambassador for the Hospice, is a professionally trained barber and his skills will be up for auction for five lucky people to have their hair cut at Form Barbershop in Clitheroe on Saturday April 20th, between 12.30-3pm.
All proceeds from the event will go to the Hospice, which is based on Park Lee Road in Blackburn, including an auction for some signed Rovers memorabilia, and Conway is thrilled to be able to raise money for such an important cause.
"I'm really looking forward to it," he said. "After visiting the Hospice earlier this year and seeing the fantastic work the staff do, I wanted to try and help out.
"The Hospice needs around £2.5m of voluntary donations a year to run and I'm hoping we can raise as much money as possible from the event."
The midfielder, who has cut some of the Rovers players' hair in years gone by, said he is hoping to be joined by some of his team-mates on the day.
"I'm hoping a few of the boys come down for what should be a great occasion," he added.
"I've done something similar in the past and I'm looking forward to getting the scissors out again. It brings back memories of my dad bringing me into the family shop on a Saturday morning, where I would do a few haircuts before going off to play a game!"
East Lancashire Hospice's Income Generation Lead, Sharon Crymble, said: “We were thrilled to be matched with Craig when Blackburn Rovers chose us as one of their charities to support us this season.
"When he visited, it certainly put a smile on the faces of our patients, visitors and volunteers and created a real buzz around the place. It was great to hear how impressed Craig was with our Hospice and the difference it makes.
"Not only has he given his time to do this, he surprised us all when we heard he is also a barber and would use his skill to raise money to help.
"He really is a great ambassador for the club and the Hospice and we can’t wait to be there on the day to see who has helped our patients by bidding to have their hair cut by Craig and seeing the end result!”
Five appointments are available in the silent auction. For your chance to have your hair cut by Craig, simply email your name, bid and daytime contact details to firstname.lastname@example.org, marking the subject line 'Craig Conway Cut'. The deadline is midday on Thursday April 18th.
