Another late goal prevented Rovers from earning a point at home to Liverpool as substitute Fidel O'Rourke scored a last minute winner to scramble a win for the visitors.
O'Rourke had only been on for eight minutes when he bagged the winning goal with almost the last kick of the game to break Rovers' hearts.
In an even first half, it was the Reds who took the lead four minutes before the break as Paul Glatzel's strike took a deflection of Enzo Boyomos and found a way past goalkeeper Ben Winterbottom.
But Rovers responded after the break with a Kyle Connell equaliser before the Scottish striker turned provider as he set up Luke Brennan to hand Rovers the lead.
But as has been the case in recent weeks, the opponents battled back and after Glatzel equalised with 15 minutes remaining.
Three minutes later and the game was turned on its head as strike partner Bobby Duncan gave the Reds the lead for the second time in the game.
It wasn't all over and Rovers showed character to make it 3-3 five minutes later when Sam Burns found the net.
And just as it looked as if it would end all square, O'Rourke was on hand to lash home to win the game for the Merseysiders.
