Rovers' deadline day move for promising midfielder Brad Lyons has now been approved.

The 21-year-old joins initially on loan from Northern Irish side Coleraine, with a view to the deal being made permanent in January.

Despite his tender years, Lyons has made over 100 appearances for the Bannsiders after coming through their youth ranks.

He made his debut as a teenager in August 2014 and also has Europa League experience under his belt, having featured in the competition on four occasions.

Last season, the young midfielder played over 30 games as Coleraine claimed an Irish Cup and second-place finish in the Premiership.

Lyons spent time on trial with Rovers over the summer, playing in the pre-season friendly at Kendal Town, and he has started the current campaign in fine form, netting twice in two league appearances.

His signing follows hot on the heels of another highly-rated youngster, Mitchel Candlin, who arrived on loan from Walsall earlier on deadline day.

Welcome on board, Brad.
