Rovers captain Charlie Mulgrew could be in international action when Scotland take on World Cup semi-finalists Belgium on Friday evenin

Mulgrew has made an impressive start to the season at club level, helping Rovers keep three clean sheets and chipping in with three goals at the other end.

Now, the defender is preparing for back-to-back games against Belgium and Albania with his country before returning to East Lancashire, and says he's looking forward to the challenge.

“I always enjoy playing for my country," he said. "We’ve got a couple of good tests coming up, so it’s good to link up with the other lads again.

“I went straight from Bristol up to Edinburgh on Sunday to join up with the Scotland squad.

"We’ve got a game on Friday and another on Monday, so I’ve got to concentrate on that now.

“I’d have rather gone into the break on the back of a win, but it’s just one of those things."

Scotland v Belgium takes place at Hampden Park, with kick-off scheduled for 7:45pm.

Good luck, Charlie!
