Tony Mowbray has revealed Charlie Mulgrew is set to be back in the Rovers squad for this weekend's game against Nottingham Forest at Ewood Park.
Mulgrew has missed the last couple of games due to illness and a calf issue, but the skipper is set to mark his return against the Reds.
And the boss has also been boosted by the news that Jacob Davenport is edging closer to a competitive debut having missed the start of the campaign due to injury.
“Generally we’re looking okay on the injury front. We only have long-term ones at the moment I think," Mowbray told iFollow Rovers.
“Charlie Mulgrew is back on the grass and has been doing everything in training today, not with the team, on his own.
“We’ll see how he gets on tomorrow when he is back with the team and fingers crossed he will be okay for Saturday.
“As long as he comes through Friday then I think he will be fine.
“He’s a very important player for our team and is strong in the dressing room and on the grass. I’m looking forward to seeing him back playing and helping the team get results," Tony added.
“With Jacob there’s no rush. I’ve spoken with the medical department today and they think he will be back on the grass with the group on Monday.
“It’s a process that we’ll go through with Jacob in getting him training with the team, playing in an Under-23s game or two and then see where he is after the international break I would think."
