Premier League legend George Boateng has joined Blackburn Rovers as Under-13s Head Coach, based at the club's Academy.
As a player, Boateng came through Feyenoord's famous youth set-up, going on to make over 500 career appearances before hanging up his boots in 2013.
A former Holland international, the 43-year-old arrives in East Lancashire having completed his UEFA Pro Licence and gained experience of first-team management in Malaysia.
Boateng's appointment is the latest positive piece of news in what has been a memorable period for the Rovers youth system, featuring some standout performances from Academy products and promotion for the club's Under-23s last season.
With as many as six Academy graduates in the squad for Rovers' 4-1 Carabao Cup second-round win over Lincoln last month, he will now hope to guide a new generation of stars through the ranks at Ewood Park.
Everyone at Rovers would like to welcome George to the club and wish him well in his new role.
