Rovers Under-18s made it two wins in a week as they returned to league action with a win over Sunderland Under-18s at the Academy of Light.
The victory ended the home side's four-game unbeaten run as Rovers came from behind to earn a narrow victory in the north-east.
It was the Black Cats who took the early lead just 10 minutes into the encounter as Cole Kiernan finished cooly from close range after connecting with Sonny Best's cross from the right to send the hosts into the break with the advantage.
But whatever was said to the young Rovers at half time certainly worked as Jack Vale continued his fine goalscoring form by finding the net at the beginning of the second half.
And soon after the turnaround was complete as Isaac Whitehall's low finish from range made it 2-1 to Rovers and leave Sunderland shell-shocked.
Rayed Derbali headed wide as the Wearsiders seasrched for an equaliser before Rovers increased their tally thanks to a rare strike from Dan Pike, whose shot from just inside the box took a deflection before nestling in the corner.
But Sunderland weren't done and they were handed a lifeline later on following George Wilson's tug on Kiernan, who stepped up to send Jordan Eastham the wrong way from the spot.
Rovers showed their spirit to hold on and take a crucial three points to move up to 10th in the Premier League 2 table.
Rovers are next in action on Saturday 13th October at home to Manchester City in Premier League 2, kick-off 11am at Brockhall.
