Tony Mowbray says his first thought is with David Raya following Rovers' 1-1 draw against old club West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns today.
Raya was caught by a stray boot from Jay Rodriguez late in the second half, which resulted in the Spaniard being taken off on a stretcher.
Richie Smallwood donned the gloves for the first time in his career as a battling Rovers held on to a valuable point from the clash against the Baggies.
Rovers are the walking wounded at this moment in time, with Mowbray also seeing Charlie Mulgrew and Jack Rodwell being taken off against the Baggies through injury.
"First and foremost my thoughts are with David Raya. He has a severe facial injury and will be in hospital tonight," Mowbray revealed after the game.
“I’ve been speaking to Jay Rodriguez and he’s very upset because it’s such a bad injury.
“Apart from all that we seem to be running out of defenders at the moment. Lenihan wasn’t available today, Mulgrew and Rodwell both had to come off.
"Rodwell’s back has been sore for a week and it went into spasm in the second half.
“Mulgrew’s taken a great whack as well. But listen, we took a point from a tough place, we’ll put it in the bag and move onto next week.
"There were changes that we had to make to the team. We couldn’t put Danny Graham on the pitch today and yet he was on the bench."
