Rovers boss Tony Mowbray said he was happy with the result, but disappointed with the performance against Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.
Bradley Dack's eighth goal of the season proved the difference for Rovers, who started the game excellently before taking the lead in the 21st minute.
But following some great possession play, the rest of the game proved to be tough to control, and a change in the system at half time failed to change the flow of the game.
But despite the display, Tony was pleased with a gritty victory in the local derby.
“The result is good but the performance has to be miles better, as we have said in the dressing room," the boss reflected after the game.
