Rovers boss Tony Mowbray said he was happy with the result, but disappointed with the performance against Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

Bradley Dack's eighth goal of the season proved the difference for Rovers, who started the game excellently before taking the lead in the 21st minute.

But following some great possession play, the rest of the game proved to be tough to control, and a change in the system at half time failed to change the flow of the game.

But despite the display, Tony was pleased with a gritty victory in the local derby.

“The result is good but the performance has to be miles better, as we have said in the dressing room," the boss reflected after the game.

“For the first 20 minutes we did what we’d worked on and dominated the ball. For some reason we stopped playing and they changed their system slightly.

“They stopped the conduit in [Jack] Rodwell. That stopped the passing from the team but we have to be better with the ball I think. Sometimes you have to see out a win.

“We were gritty, hung in there and grafted. I had to change things at half time as I felt we were almost waiting for the goal to come with the system we were playing.

“I’m not happy with the performance but I’m happy with the result. We’ve been miles better in the past."
