Lifelong Blackburn Rovers supporter Michael Sinkinson failed to hide his delight after winning a whopping £574 via the Rovers Return lottery draw at the club's recent meeting with Aston Villa.

Riverside Stand season ticket Holder Michael, who has followed Rovers since 1985, is a regular supporter of the matchday half-time lottery, and he revealed that he intends to invest his winnings on another season ticket next season.

"I'm going to use the rest of it to fund next year's season ticket,” said Michael.

“That's the great thing about the Rovers Return, the prize money pays for a new season ticket!”

Whilst Michael revealed his initial plans for his prize money, he admitted his spending won't end there.

"I've already spent some of the money when I travelled down to Bournemouth [for Rovers' Carabao Cup tie]," added Michael.

"I don't drink so instead of going to the pub, I forked out for a cracking ice cream on the beach!

“I’ll look to spend the rest of it on a trip I have planned.”

Michael, 44, has been a Rovers fan since he was 11-years-old, and rarely misses a match at Ewood Park.

Although he has supported the Rovers Return for approximately two years, his recent win happens to be his first, and Michael revealed he was thrilled to learn that his luck had finally changed.

Michael continued: "There's a couple of people who sit around me at Ewood and dish out the old 'what a waste of money' jibe when I don't win. It was really nice to silence them!

"It was a really proud feeling, you've got to be in it to win it at the end of the day."

The official matchday lottery is operated by the Community Trust with the proceeds being donated to the club's Academy, in order to help bring on the next generation of Rovers stars.

Whilst Michael was ultimately a lucky winner on this occasion, he reiterated the importance for all Rovers supporters to back the lottery and help fund the future of the club, regardless of the outcome.

"It's for a fantastic cause, whether you win or lose you should be buying your ticket," stressed Michael.

"All money raised goes to funding the Academy, that's where our future talent will come from so it's important we support that.

"We're [Rovers supporters] all like a big family, everyone should be together supporting a common goal."

The Rovers Return will be available for all supporters to enter for the club's clash with Leeds United this coming Saturday, midday kick-off. Tickets are priced at just £1 each - with a free ticket for the Golden Ticket draw for every two main draw tickets you purchase - and can land you great prizes such as our cash jackpot and signed merchandise.
