Paul Downing and Kasey Palmer showed their versatility by becoming honourary librarians for the afternoon, marking the opening of a wonderful new library at St Mary and St Joseph's RC Primary School in Blackburn.

The Rovers pair cut the ribbon to an excellent new facility at the Bennington Street school, which has been brought to life thanks to tireless work from pupils, parents and staff to raise £5,000 converting a former IT suite into a colourful room full of exciting stories.

Both players were also given plenty to ponder as they took questions from a full school assembly, where they were asked to recommend their favourite books, talk about the importance of reading and describe what storyline they'd come up with if they were tasked with writing a children's story.

Blackburn Rovers Community Trust also supplied a selection of new books as part of the Premier League Primary Stars programme's Reading Stars initiative, which saw Kasey getting stuck into reading excerpts from a selection of top kids' titles!

All involved at the club and Community Trust would like to thank assistant headteacher Simone Addy for inviting us to share in the school's big day and the warm welcome provided by everyone connected to St Mary and St Joseph's RC Primary School
