Our new feature kicks off with a midfielder in the hot seat…

Which club did you join Rovers from?

Fylde Ladies.

Any jobs alongside playing football?

I’m a football coach at Manchester United.

Where did you grow up?

In Bury.

Which team do you support?

Manchester United. My family have always supported them so I grew up with it.

How did you get into playing football?

My brother used to play so I went to watch him and would play on the sideline and then in the garden at home. I started in a girls’ team called Woodbank, a grassroots club.

Do you have a nickname on the pitch?

Loz or Lozzer!

Any pre-match rituals?

Mine is ridiculous. Before I’ve even left the house my mum has to check what’s in my bag to make sure I haven’t forgotten anything. In the changing room I’m really OCD with my socks – I’m just a nightmare. I can’t even explain it, it’s that crazy!

Favourite pre-match meal?

Eggs and beans on toast in a morning and pasta or chicken if it’s a night match.

Career highlight – What is your most memorable moment on the pitch?

Probably scoring on my debut for Everton or my first call up to England U19s to play Italy.

Career ambitions – What do you want to achieve in the game?

To get as many trophies as we can as a team and get Blackburn into the league they should be in.

Who is your football idol/role model? Who did you aspire to be like growing up?

When I was younger it was Cristiano Ronaldo. I had him on the back of every United shirt. From the women’s game, I’ve always said Kelly Smith from the start. When I was brought into women’s football, she was always the name I heard the most. When I played against her she was a top player.

Who is the best player you have played with?

I’d say two players from Everton. Either Nikita Parris, she was just a very good striker and still is now doing very well, or Rachel Brown-Finnis the goalkeeper.

Favourite place to visit abroad?

Bora Bora or New York, where I am going next year. New York looks like a really good place to go to at Christmas.

What is your star sign?

I think I’m Aries. I could be wrong!

Do you have any phobias?

Any sort of insect possible. Before I go to bed I have to look in all corners of my room and if there’s any tiny fly, my dad has to get it out for me. I wouldn’t last at all in I’m a Celebrity, I’d be terrible.

Do you play any musical instruments?

No, I think I’d be terrible at everything!

Do you have any pets?

I’ve got a dog, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier called Floyd. I think we named him after Floyd Mayweather.

What is your favourite film?

I have two, I can’t pick between them. Either Pretty Woman or the newest Footloose film. I keep them on the planner on my TV. I’ve watched them so many times. Those two are definitely my favourites.

Thanks for chatting, Lauren!
