Saffron Jordan celebrated her 100th Rovers Ladies appearance in style, netting four goals in the Blues’ 14-0 victory over Morecambe Ladies in the Lancashire FA Challenge Cup Second Round on Sunday.
Jordan has scored an impressive 73 goals during her four seasons at the club, helping the team to an unprecedented treble last year and back to back league titles.
“We’ve done pretty well. The season when we went unbeaten the first time we had won (the league) and last season when we did the treble, it was a high achievement,” Saffron recalled.
“I’ve loved my time at the club and that shows because I’ve been here for 100 games now.”
The striker has been Rovers’ top goalscorer twice, finding the net 24 times last campaign and was awarded the Player of the Match award in the FAWNL Cup Final. Jordan was also Rovers’ Player of the Season that year.
And the 24 year-old was delighted to contribute to Rovers’ latest victory: “It’s not just the goals, which everyone will see, it’s the performance in the first half.
“Those third man runs, everything was coming together, we were passing the ball quickly and everyone was moving. It was good quality football.”
Jordan managed to pick out a favourite from Sunday’s goal collection: “Probably the fourth one when I took it and drilled it into the bottom corner.”
Here’s to another hundred in Rovers colours, Saffron!
