Tony Mowbray says he has a burning desire to bring further success back to Ewood Park after putting pen-to-paper on a new three-and-a-half-year contract at the club.

The boss, who arrived in February 2017, oversaw an instant return to the Championship last season, with Rovers enjoying a solid start to life back in the second tier.

Mowbray has a win percentage of almost 50% from his 92 games in charge and is keen to give the Rovers faithful further success in the coming years.

“That challenge burns away in my stomach and I have a drive to be successful here," the boss told iFollow Rovers.

"It’s an internal mechanism that I have from being a professional sportsman all my life since leaving school.

“I’ve been to India to meet the people who own this club and I know there have been issues, but I met some very humble people who have invested heavily into this football club.

“There has been disappointment along the way, but my aim is to show them that football can be enjoyable.

“The support base of this team can enjoy football again and have great days and great occasions. That’s the burning desire I have. I want to bring those moments to the club like we did last season.

“When I think back to Doncaster away, it was an amazing night. We then had that amazing day at Ewood Park with that huge support against Oxford United. The stadium was over-flowing and that’s what we’re trying to get back to."
