Tony Mowbray has made four chances to his starting lineup from the one that began against Preston on Saturday, for tonight's clash against Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium.
Jack Rodwell, Danny Graham, Amari'i Bell and Corry Evans, all come into the side, with Darragh Lenihan, Kasey Palmer, Derrick Williams and Elliott Bennett dropping out.
Evans is set for his 250th league appearance, and scored on this day three years ago, which came against Sheffield Wednesday.
The midfielder missed out at the weekend having represented Northern Ireland on a couple of occasions during the international break.
Fellow international Rover Lenihan is missing after picking up a recurrence of the hip injury picked up at Swansea City last month.
Bennett is suspended having picked up his fifth booking of the season late on against Preston North End on Saturday at Deepdale.
Palmer and Williams are both available from the bench for Mowbray if needed.
For the hosts, loanee Christian Walton starts in goal, whilst Nick Powell has made the starting XI despite being a doubt for the game.
Blackburn-born Joe Garner is on the bench for Paul Cook this evening, as is the experienced Darron Gibson, who was a team-mate of Rodwell during their time at Sunderland.
