This is a feature getting to know the new members of the Ladies squad!
Which club did you join Rovers from?
Any jobs alongside playing football?
I work as a receptionist at a hotel.
Where did you grow up?
Which team do you support?
Liverpool. I don’t actually have a reason, but Steven Gerrard was always my favourite player. I’ve supported them since I was about four.
How did you get into playing football?
Probably through my dad. He used to be a professional footballer and he’s been in football throughout his life, so I followed his footsteps. I’ve been playing since I was four. I played for the local boys’ team when I was about six and then moved into girls’ football.
Do you have a nickname?
I’ve never had a nickname I don’t think!
Any pre-match rituals?
Not really but I always have a banana and Weetabix the morning of a game.
Favourite pre-match meal?
If it’s a night match, I usually have something with pasta.
Which place do you want to visit abroad?
There’s so many that I could choose from! I’d love to go to the Maldives. Every time I see it on Instagram it looks so nice!
Career highlight – what is your most memorable moment on the pitch?
In my time at college we won a few trophies and it was really good to be a part of that. It was a great atmosphere and we were all a team.
Career ambitions – What do you want to achieve in the game?
To win more trophies with Blackburn. We’ve come into a winning team and I’d love to experience the same with these girls, because they’re all so good.
Who is your football idol? Who did you aspire to be like growing?
As a kid it was Steven Gerrard, 100%. I had him all over my room. But now it would probably be Fara Williams. She plays the same position as me and I’ve played against her and then with her at Liverpool. I’ve always looked up to her since I was little and obviously she’s a really good player.
Who is the best player you have played with or against?
I have to mention Fara Williams again. Or maybe Toni Duggan. They’re both class.
What is your star sign?
I’m a Capricorn.
Do you have any phobias?
I have a phobia of butter and knees. When I was about six or seven, my auntie used to visit and she loved butter. She even used to eat it on its own. Since then I can’t touch it or be near people who are eating it.
And knees, I don’t know why, they just make me cringe. I’ve always had a phobia of someone touching my knee. And in the women’s game recently, knee injuries have been so common. Touch wood I don’t do anything to my knee.
Do you play any musical instruments?
When I was in primary school I played the clarinet. My brother’s in a band now, but I never did anything like that, it wasn’t for me. I’d rather be outside playing football!
Do you have any pets?
I’ve got a dog, a bichon called Taz.
What is your favourite film?
The Fault in our Stars. I watched it once and now I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve watched it since then! It’s kind of personal as well and secretly I’m a softie who cried at it. It’s such a sad film so people ask me why I want to watch it over and over again!
Thanks for chatting, Eve!
