Derrick Williams says it's vital for Rovers to follow up an excellent point at West Bromwich Albion by earning at the very least a draw against QPR on Saturday.

Williams ended up being part of a back five in the hard-earned point against the Baggies last weekend.

But he says it will all count for nothing if Rovers fail to get at least a point on the board at home to in form QPR, who visit Ewood Park on Saturday.

“We have to build on a good point at West Brom. With a game against QPR coming up, it would be a backward step to take nothing from the game considering all the effort we put in to get a point last weekend," Del told iFollow Rovers.

“They are a team we want to beat, but they are in good form and are hard to beat. I think it will be a much tougher game than West Brom because of the form they’re in.

“We’re at our place though and despite the injuries we can have no excuses. We’ll be prepared mentally.

“These next few games are going to be battles and we need to make sure we’re up for the fight. QPR will be just as good as us when it comes to getting on the end of second balls and fighting. We need to want it more than them.

“We have QPR, Rotherham, Preston and Wigan so they will all be tough as I think they all play similar to us as well."

Rovers have had a good start to life back in the Championship and sit in the top half of the table.

Williams is pleased with how things have gone for the team, but believes there is still plenty to give from the whole squad.

“We have a good team and I think there is a lot more to come from us. We have pulled out some good results and now it’s about taking that confidence forward," he added.

“When you come up into a new league you always want to get those first few wins under your belt and get that confidence and composure.

“We have that and hopefully we’ll see a lot more from ourselves. A few in the changing rooms have mentioned the play-offs and I think we’re capable of it, but we’ll take it game by game."
