Damien Johnson was ruing his side's luck and final bit of quality following defeat to Everton in the Premier League Cup at Leyland.
A first half own goal from Okera Simmonds was the difference between the two sides in the wind and the rain at the Lancashire FA HQ.
And speaking afterwards, Johnson felt there wasn't too much between the two sides.
“The conditions didn’t help us. We tried to play and had some good moments but we couldn’t find that little bit of quality to open the door," the Development Squad chief reflected.
“We conceded from a set piece despite them not really causing us any problems at all.
“But there are lots of things that pleased me against an Everton team that are a strong side.
“We have to keep going. We had the chances, flashes, but we need a bit of luck and a bit of quality, which wasn’t there for us.
“Everton came here six weeks ago and dominated and I think we improved from that display.
“We have a couple of weeks now until the next game against West Ham and that gives us the chance to work on a few things."
Rovers are next in action on Monday 26th November against West Ham United at Ewood Park, kick-off 7pm.
