Rovers are pleased to announce three summer friendly fixtures, as preparations for the 2018-19 season begin to take shape.
Tony Mowbray’s side will play pre-season games away to Hibernian, Port Vale and Accrington Stanley, ahead of Rovers’ return to the Championship in early August.
First up, Rovers will provide the opposition for Hibs stalwart Paul Hanlon’s Testimonial, which takes place at Easter Road on Sunday July 8th, kick-off 3pm.
Defender Hanlon, who made his Hibs debut in January 2008, has gone on to make almost 350 appearances for the Edinburgh club.
The game will also mark a return to the club where Tony Mowbray started his managerial career, having held the reins at Easter Road from May 2004 to October 2006, during which time he was named the 2005 Scottish Football Writers’ Association Manager of the Year after guiding Hibs to a third-place finish in the SPL in his first season in charge.
Next up, Rovers take on Port Vale at Vale Park on Saturday July 14th, kick-off 3pm.
Neil Aspin’s side endured a disappointing 2017-18 campaign, finishing in 20th position in League Two – the joint lowest finish in the club’s history.
By contrast, Rovers’ final pre-season opponents, Accrington Stanley, celebrated a historic promotion to the third tier as League Two champions.
The game against John Coleman’s side will take place at the Wham Stadium on Saturday July 28th, kick-off 3pm.
Ticket information, plus further pre-season fixtures, will be announced in due course.
