Rovers defender Paul Downing says he sees no reason why the good times can't continue to roll at Ewood Park, with Championship football on the horizon next season.
The defender, who's played a key role in the team since arriving from MK Dons on deadline day last summer, appeared 28 times in League One throughout our successful campaign.
And now the 26-year-old believes Rovers can relish the challenge of stepping up to the second tier and aim high next term
“It’s all a bit new for people like me but it’s good that we can have these sort of celebration events with everyone," Paul told iFollow Rovers after our Civic Reception. "It’s been great for everyone involved."
“The leagues are competitive, there is excitement at both ends of the table but I’m just thankful to be involved in the excitement at the right end of the table."
And speaking about his campaign as a whole, Downing feels he's developed as a player, adding that the move to Ewood has been a brilliant one for him.
“When I look back to the first day or pre-season when I was with my old club, I feel I’ve really come a long way," he said.
“I’m very thankful for the opportunity I’ve had at this great football club and I’m looking forward to the future now. I’m really hopeful that this can just be the start of something great.
“Hopefully there are many more successful times to come for us."
