Rovers captain Charlie Mulgrew says he is looking forward to a South American double-header later this week as he aims to earn further caps for his country.

Scotland face Peru in the early hours of Wednesday 30th May before taking on Mexico later on in the week in Mexico City on Sunday 3rd June.

A regular for his country, Mulgrew will be hoping to earn his 35th and 36th caps for his country over that week.

And he'll also be hoping to keep hold of the captain's armband having been skipper for his country in their last two outings, against Costa Rica and Hungary back in March.

“I have a trip to Peru and Mexico coming up with so I’ll have to keep fit over the summer and keep things ticking over," Mulgrew said to rovers.co.uk.

"That’s the life of a footballer but you’re a long time retired so it’s a good problem to have.

“They will be difficult games with the heat and the altitude, those sort of things, but I imagine there are worst things going on in the world and worse places to play football!"

The two games will be Charlie's final outings of the season before resting up ahead of returning to pre-season action with Rovers in late June.
