Rovers right back Ryan Nyambe admits his return from injury came at just the right time and now has his sights set on a regular run in the Championship next season.
Ryan appeared 35 times in all competitions for the club in the 2017-18 campaign but missed the last couple of months of the season after picking up a hamstring injury against Blackpool in March.
But he almost timed his return to perfection, and although he wasn't fit enough to feature in that game at Doncaster, was available and started the final game of the season against Oxford in front of nearly 28,000 at Ewood Park.
“I’m very pleased with my season overall and especially happy to return back fit for the last game of the season," Ryan reflected. "I timed it well and it was great to get a game on the final day.
“I was really keen to get back involved. I came back a couple of weeks earlier than expected and once I got back training I was determined to get back in the team and play a part on what was a momentous occasion.
“I feel very privileged to be amongst the boys and to play my part, especially after coming through the ranks and through the youth sides here."
And what of the season just gone? It's certainly been a kind one to Nyambe, who's been a regular feature racing up and down the right side for Rovers.
So how has he found it?
“It’s a great achievement and credit has to be given to everyone involved, including the gaffer and the staff," the 20-year-old added.
“I’m very proud and it was great to enjoy the occasion with the fans. I can’t wait for the start of next season now and to test myself again in the Championship."
